Welcome to my den: To what extent do you feel different?

I think you’ll probably be aware that INFJs make up only 1% of the population, and are the rarest of the 16 types.

Even before you discovered the MBTI, I think it’s likely you’ll have been aware of being so different (of course everyone’s special, blah, blah, blah, but you probably felt…

I’ve always had difficulty making friends as far back as I can remember. Even in early elementary school I distinctly remember feeling very different from my peers. Over the years I tried to find different ways to “fit in” or at least find other people who could relate to me. I turned to music, punk rock, straight edge, booze, literature, existentialism, academia, etc. Now that I’m older and better understand why I’ve always felt so different, I don’t struggle with it as much. It’s still difficult to find like-minded people, but it doesn’t bother me as much. I’ve been lucky to meet a handful of people that I’ve had meaningful connections with, and every day I figure out better ways to feel apart of various communities.

  5. ellenrachel answered: It was hard growing up, but my 20s have been great. Only sticking point is my depth of emotion— it reads as “intense” for a few people.

  16. talktangled answered: I think I felt the difference more as a child. But as far as people REALLY knowing me I would say there has probably only been 3 people ever.
  17. lilykit627 answered: Idk, I’ve only really been “known” by two other people in my whole life. I feel safe this way. I don’t need everyone to understand me.
